A player must accumulate a specific chip stack amount designated by the poker room ("The Milestone") to be awarded the tournament prize - the Milestone is usually noted in the rules and structure sheet. Example: You are playing a $300 buy-in Milestone Satellite to a $1,600 buy-in event and the "Milestone" is 150,000 chips. Once a player works their chip stack up to 150,000 chips they are awarded a seat into the $1,600 tournament event. The player will cease play and their chips removed from play. The satellite will conclude when the number of players remaining is equal to the number of $1,600 prizes generated based on the Tournament Prize formula, less the the amount of players who have previously won by reaching The Milestone.
