Michael's incredible WSOP Main Event run has come to an end in 4th place, earning $2,750,000. He was eliminated when his K♠Q♠ ran into Lucas Jumalon's K♦J♥ in a heads-up pot. Jumalon hit his 3-outer to take the lead when the J♦ fell on the turn, and a blank on the river ended Gags' epic run.

Gags' reaction afterward said it all:

"It's unbelievable. I couldn't have asked for more. The support from my friends, my family, people online, people playing, the rest of the fans. It was just unbelievable. I don't think I would have changed any decision at this final table. I was happy with how I played."

Michael Gagliano, known as Gags throughout the poker community, has showcased his unique strategic ability by teaching our Fearless River members how to think through hands since joining in 2021. This summer, he showed the world how he navigates some of the most pressure-packed spots on poker's biggest stage.

Michael was one of the final 9 players to make the 2026 World Series of Poker Main Event, poker's biggest and most prestigious tournament, capping off an unforgettable summer.

Out of a field of 9,208 entrants, the 4th largest Main Event ever held, Gags outlasted all but three players. We couldn't be prouder, and we wanted to celebrate it with everyone who's learned from him.

The Road to the Final Table

Michael is already a 4x WSOP bracelet winner, and he's no stranger to the Main Event either. He's cashed it twice before: in 2016 he finished 842nd out of 6,737 entrants, and in 2025 he made an even deeper run, finishing 148th out of 9,735. This year, he made it all the way to the final table. Gags stayed patient and mixed in expertly timed aggression through eight grueling, 12-hour days, and it paid off. Here's what that run looked like:

Along the way, he ended Hossein Ensan's historic bid for a second Main Event title, sending the 2019 champion to the rail in 13th place. Talking to PokerNews after bagging up for the final table, Michael put the grind in perspective:

"I've been saying for many days that it feels like Groundhog Day. Like, the more people that bust, it just feels like the number just doesn't go down... I feel like it's finally done."

This is the kind of sentiment that's earned Gags a reputation as one of the game's most genuine advocates: fully focused on winning, but just as invested in the players around him and the growth of the game.

The Final Table Lineup

Entering the Final Table (Aug 3): Although Lucas Jumalon's lead is dramatic, with 35% of chips in play and more than double 2nd place, Gags' unmatched experience performing on the big stage is certain to keep him in contention for the title until the final hand is dealt.

Gags played one of the most impressive pots of the night against the massive chip leader Lucas Jumalon. After defending his big blind and correctly calling bets for large chunks of his stack on both the flop and turn, Gags was rewarded by winning a huge pot with only ace-high when Jumalon chose not to fire a third barrel on the river.

After Day 1: 7 Remain (Aug 4)

Gags entered Day 2 in 5th chip position with 42,000,000 (17 BBs). Play continues Wednesday, August 5th, as Lucas Jumalon and Lauri Saaskilahti battle heads-up for the title.

The Final Hand:

Gags' run ended in Hand #150 of the final table. He shoved for 9,500,000 from the Button with K♠Q♠, and after Greg Mueller folded pocket 4s, chip leader Lucas Jumalon called all-in with K♦J♥. The flop (K♥8♥5♣) had Gags in front, but the J♦ turn gave Jumalon two pair, and the 7♠ river sealed it. Gags was eliminated in 4th place for $2,750,000, the best finish of his 17 Main Event appearances.

Speaking afterward, he reflected on the run:

"It's taken me a while to get there in poker. When I'm at the table, I'm just trying to make the best decision in that moment, in that spot, with the hands I've been dealt and the action that's happening. When I focus on that, I have my best results."
